This fun teepee play tent design is for a little girl from her new baby brother. I love the Zap Pow Wham fabric!

This set of items were part of a custom order for a customer who looked through my past makes and chose some items she would like made in her favourite colours. It was great fun working with this lovely Japanese fabric and vintage flower charms.

I stocked up my shop with some new zip purses in Japanese fabrics! ♥

This pretty girly play tent is off to a little girl in Australia.

I also took my stall to a summer fair to support a local breastfeeding support group. Thanks to everyone who visited my stall!

I finally got a chance to make a Zap Pow Wham dress for my gorgeous little girl too.

I have a bunch of new designs on the sewing table for my shop which I should be able to share soon. ^_^

Christmas Craft Fairs

It’s been a fun couple of weekends doing some Christmas craft events. We wrapped up our Team Cambridge Etsy Pop Up Shop which was such a fun event to be part of, I really enjoyed meeting all the other sellers and seeing their gorgeous work. I snapped a few photos as the sun went down on the last evening of the shop.

Last Saturday was small business Saturday which is the perfect day for the fabulous local event the Mill Road Winter Fair, which celebrates local communities and small businesses. It was a gorgeous frosty sunny day perfect for the winter fair! I was relieved it wasn’t raining as I had a gazebo pitch this year.

Then on Sunday I headed to the Last Gang Alternative Christmas market for a lush afternoon trading alongside some good friends and fantastic alternative sellers. I managed to do a fair bit of Christmas shopping at the gorgeous stalls too!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! December was an exciting and busy month filled with sewing, craft fairs and family celebrations!

Our beautiful daughter Poppy is now 1 year old! She is amazing and I am so lucky to be her Mummy. It’s been an incredible year! She’s now walking everywhere, and she knows a few words and signs. ❤

I had great fun doing my first two craft events since Poppy was born, From Cambridge With Love and the Mill Road Winter Fair. Both are fabulous local events and I had a brilliant time sewing & preparing for the fairs and then setting up, trading, and chatting to everyone who passed by! Thanks to everyone who came to say hello!

I had so much fun making baby dresses, quilted bibs, micro bunting, purses, pincushions and wash bags! Lots of items are now available in my Etsy shop. My plan for the new year is to update my shop regularly with lots of fab new items so keep an eye out for new listings. I update my Facebook page regularly with my latest projects. ^_^

Christmas has been really nice too, all the more fun with Poppy around! I have to share some of the beautiful & thoughtful handmade gifts I was given!

This sweet Totoro acorn family came all the way from Tokyo and is now hanging in Poppy’s room. They are handmade by mums at the local primary school. The Mums also run workshops where you get to make them yourself! My brother made a blog post about it a while ago!

This awesome rainbow scarf was crocheted for me by my mum!

I’ve set my goal for this year and filled in the left eye of my Daruma! I’ll fill in the right eye when my goal is reached. Here’s to a great 2014 and plenty of sewing! ^_^

Autumn projects

It’s November already… this year is flying past. Poppy is 10 months old now and she’s just so sweet & funny. We went to look at the Autumn colour garden at the Botanic Garden this week.

We celebrated Poppy’s first Halloween this week too. ^_^

I’ve been stitching away and updating my Etsy shop as often as possible. Here are a few of the things I’ve been making this Autumn…

In September I made two applique cushions featuring Totoro. ♥ One for Poppy’s room and one for my shop… safe to say it’s new owner baby Dex was pleased with it! ^_^

I made some more of my wristband pincushions, this time in Liberty of London fabric with vintage buttons. There’s one left in my shop, and I will be making more (Japanese silk ones too) for the winter craft fairs I’m trading at and hopefully for my Etsy shop too.

I’ve also been making some embellished zip purses which are in my shop now. ^_^

Now I’m busy preparing for the Christmas craft fairs I’m trading at this year, but I’ll make sure I update my shop in good time for the Christmas post deadlines too! I’m making all sorts of things (with some *gorgeous* fabrics!) so I’ll be sure to share some photos here and on my facebook page of my work in progress. Baby Poppy keeps me busy so I’ll be sewing every chance I get! Gambate to all those preparing for craft shows this season!

November Sewing Projects

It’s been a while! I hope everyone had a great Halloween! We did. ^_^

This photo was taken at 33 weeks. I’m now 36 weeks (going on 37 weeks) pregnant.

I taught my last sewing workshop this month and I’m now officially on maternity leave! Time seems to have flown past this year and my due date is almost here.

I’m getting ready to put my feet up & relax, but over the past month I’ve been enjoying having time to myself to spend in my studio surrounded by fabric & lace. ♥ As well as making things for baby I’ve been preparing for the Christmas Craft Fairs I’m trading at this season. First up is the Made-It Market Christmas Special this weekend! I’ll have a table there for the 4th year running. Here’s a peak at some of the things I’ve been making for the event.

Wristband Pin Cushions made from Japanese silk and vintage buttons. ♥ I have one of these I made last year and it’s so useful for dressmaking – both for fittings and working on a mannequin. I also wear it when I’m teaching, it’s really handy!

Fabric purses – handy for stashing everything from sewing supplies or camera batteries to make up or toiletries.

My kewpie hair bows sold like hotcakes at BlytheCon UK so I made another batch. ^_^

I’ve also been working on a new range of baby clothing inspired by my bump! ♥ I’ve had loads of fun working with Japanese fabric & lace, and adding details like buttons, bows, appliqué, contrast linings and top stitching. The only problem is that so far I want to keep them all!

Black Kitty Dress

Gorgeous Japanese fabric & cotton lace. ♥

Strawberries & Cream ♥

I really love this glittery goldfish fabric, bought on a hot sunny day in Tokyo!

I’m having great fun  making these, I’m hoping to launch a little collection of ‘Look Street Baby’ dresses some time next year. ♥

I’m really looking forward to the Made-It Market! I’ll have lots more baby dresses, bags, purses and hair accessories for sale too. Hope to see you there! I’ll be sharing a table with the talented PinkAppleJam and Bento Smile and their kawaii craft creations & illustrations so our table is bound to be bright & easy to spot! Don’t worry if you can’t make it, any goodies I bring home will be listed in my Etsy shop next week. xx
